Unlicensed Medication
Veterinary medicines are authorised (licensed) for use in certain species and for certain conditions, however where there are no suitable options available your vet may prescibe an “unlicensed” medication authorised for a different species or condition using clinical judgement. Click here for further information on unlicensed medication prescribed under the Prescribing Cascade. If your pet has been prescribed an unlicensed medication for short term or long term use, you can find the relevant datasheet below for more information.
Please note: while some human medication can be used in the treatment of animals for certain conditions, we do not recommend any medication is given to your pet without the instruction of your veterinary surgeon. This is becasue some medications are not safe for use in some species and doses need to be carefully considered for the individual.
