Teamwork

Working as a team is at the core of what we do at Blackwater Vets. This not only allows us to enjoy the benefits of a happy and supportive workplace, but we believe is crucial for ensuring our clients get clear and consistent advice on the best options for their pet’s health and welfare.

Blackwater Vets is different to many other practices in that we recognise the importance of regular team meetings, where everyone has the freedom to voice their opinions and share ideas. Developing a team of knowledgeable and passionate people is key to our values. This allows us to offer a high quality, personal and friendly service to all our clients.

Time management is imperative for good mental wellbeing for the team as well as enabling us to offer our excellent service to clients. We structure our day to ensure this is achievable. We understand the importance of finishing on time and having time in the day for a lunch break. We feel that this allows us to offer our clients the exceptional clinical care and attention they deserve from a team who have a good work life balance.

During our meetings we discuss all aspects of client care and communication. We share ideas, we laugh, and sometimes we cry but most of all we all come together as a team with the shared objective of always improving what we do.

Focusing on creating psychologically healthy, resilient teams is important to us and we have invested in working with Coaching Psychologist Pauline Willis of Lauriate Ltd who has offered her expertise in integrative team coaching.

Pauline said “Sociomapping tools for tracking and improving team communication and cooperation were developed to support team success in extreme contexts such as long range space flight and military missions where failures in communication or cooperation in teams would have significant and tragic consequences. These tools are scientifically validated and based on research led by Dr Radvan Bahbouh of Charles University and QED Group in Prague, Chechia. The tools have been applied across a range of industry sectors where there is recognition of the importance and value of effective communication and cooperation as part of an integrative approach to team success.” Find out more by clicking here.

This has been a real opportunity to create a working environment that enables the team to flourish.

We are proud of our community of clients who embrace our culture and recognise the importance of taking time to work as a team and how this supports our commitment to improving pet welfare through ongoing education.
